About
CTGPSA

Cape Town Grand Prix SA (CTGPSA) is a registered black economic empowerment bid company founded in 2007 by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr Igshaan Amlay, a former political prisoner, entrepreneur, and social activist. CTGPSA has since been the longest-standing promoter bidding to host Formula One Grand Prix (F1) on a street circuit in the Green Point Sport Tourism Precinct in Cape Town, South Africa.

Mr Amlay and founding members Bjorn Buyst, Chief Operations Officer, and Esther Henderson, Chief Communications Officer, share in-depth experience in brand strategy, integrated marketing & communications; event management; creative design; and digital media in the government, tourism, media & film, arts, and culture sectors, amongst others.

Igshaan hails from Wynberg and Esther from Ravensmead in Cape Town. Bjorn was born in KZN but has studied and worked in Belgium for most of his adult life. They are ordinary Capetonians who work regular 9 – 5 jobs with a big dream and lots of passion for making the impossible happen. “We have built this bid on honesty and integrity and our vision is to leave a lasting legacy that has been pioneered by the people, for the people” says Amlay.
